The bottom three auctions I was looking at to see what you guys think. Before you tell me its not a real supercharger or whatever, I am fully aware of it. I realize that it is less powerful and doesn't really do the same thing and that the claims of 60HP it a rediculous lie. I am just curious what you guys think of it. Its like 1/20th the cost of the real deal so I don't expect it to do what a real supercharger would do. Thanks!

I say bah. I dunno what they think a turbine is, but that thing looks nothing like a turbine to me. It looks like an overglorified computer case fan, and the motor should be pulling more than 140 CFM (Well lets think, your sig shows 2.8 liters is approx 170 in^3. This means that on every complete revolution your motor will demand 0.098379629 ft^3. Just at idle this will be 63.946759 ft^3. Almost half of what that fan can provide. At 3000 rpm your motor will demand 295.138 ft^3. Which is well beyond what that fan can provide, so at that point it will be a restriction. One more number for ya, its good until 1423.0588235 RPM, anything after that is a restriction.

If the fan blades break off and damage your MAF, you could get the High Performance Granatelli one or the MAF with ported sinks from LPE. If it goes into your engine, you could get that stroker motor from LPE. As such, it will give you more power, indirectly, that is.

It looks like nothing more then a blower motor. I would say it's a waste of money. You could get the same effect by making a ram air setup by removing your fog lamps and fabricating a tube system to your air filter pods.

"also it can give you up to 8 more miles per galon even when its not on..and also up to 20% more horsepower"

...ahahahaha. Like the chick in the civic last night who told me horsepower had nothing to do with who wins a race.

My advice? Stay the hell away from it.

Fine, race her for pink slips. If she wins, she gets yours, if she loses, you get into hers. You didn't want that civic anyways, did you?

Hehehe, yeah. She may have actually been trying to say that other factors are also a part of winning a race, such as weight, etc... but I just found that phrase funny. Ohhh, so that's what I've been doing wrong. Hehe silly me and wanting horsepower.

yeah i love when they get on their high horse and are like yeah whatever my cars so much lighter. Hmm as much as power is important and weight is also important....power to weight is really the important thing there. And just because you weigh less then me doesnt make up for the massive power to weight gap. This usually ends up in a ricer getting owned

I already decide against getting that thing, but my friends are trying to talk me into it so I just wanted to back up my theory that it is useless. When people make up outrageous numbers I would never buy something from that. Ram Air is looking good.

Can I put my MAF anywhere between the filter and the engine intake or does it have to be right next to the filter?

On another note, horsepower doesn't mean anything if you can't put it to the ground (Spinning tires, etc). That MUST be what that girl was talking about :roll eyes:! Hahahaha.

If you want to waste your money, go ahead. You might as well light it on fire. Don't let your friends convince you go buy that. In fact send it to me and I'll put that $$$ to good use.

That blower will gain you nothing. FYI, your motor pulls in just over 600 cfm at WOT. That will be a restriction because there will be obstructions, mainly THE WHOLE UNIT, in the intake tract. You'll lose hp and performance, guaranteed.

Ram Air won't make you any power either. The cold air you get from ram air is what makes you power. Ram air wouldn't actually do anything till around 200 MPH, I doubt your V6 Firebird will pull that high. If you are interested in going faster get a V8. 2.8's are junk performance wise. I had a friend who build a 2.8, cam, ported heads, ported intake, roller rockers, higher compression. He also built the tranny behind it. Still can't keep up with a '89 305 TBI.

But if he ran over a cliff, would he achieve 200 mph before he hits the ground, assuming it is a very high cliff. In that case, he would have to worry about the traction, right?
