I got an Iroc!!!

Welp, I guess I'm an 'official' member now! I just purchased a black 1986 T-top Iroc with a GM crate 350 Tpi and a turbo400. Edelbrock headers, and a flowmaster (not sure which one, but it's probably a 40, cuz I can set off a few alarms). Thank you everybody who helped me with all of my questions during my search for a Camaro! They helped alot!

I love this car!! I do have a question tho, the transmission has a shift kit, and it shifts good and strong, but it seems to be stronger in the morning (even chirping the tires once when I wasn't even half throttle going to 2nd), but then settles down after 15 minutes or so. It seems to stay in first gear a bit longer in the morning as well. Is this normal? Is it bad?

Also, I'd like to (some time) get a new steering wheel, maybe a grant steering wheel (the chrome 3 spoke with black wheel). What all is involved in that? Is it just a simple "swap"?

I'll post some pictures soon! Like it doesn't look like a normal black Iroc, but hey, what the heck! haha!

it shifts harder in the morning cuz the fluid is colder and therefore thicker

ahh, thank you! I had an electronic "shift improver" on my 97 GMC Sierra, and I never encountered this with the shifting, but then again, it's an electronic shift kit. I just wanted to make sure!

Thank you!

Exactly..

I also heard shift kits aren't too good on the 700R4

Congratulations on the car, I know I was over the moon when I got my Black 86 IROC I love the car.

It is a mixed bag of opiones on that one. One thing for sure is that everyone agress on is that a shift kit is good when put in when the trannie is rebuilt. Putting in a shift kit in an old T700R4 would hurt it more then help it.

I spoke to a transmission place and they told me that when they rebuild transmissions they put in a shift kit. But having it put in an old trannie they said is not a good idea.

I have a Vette servo laying around I am hoping to just get that put in at the moment. It should firm up the 1-2 shift a little.

My Blazer does the exact same thing. I've also wondered whether it was harmful or not, of course I take it easy when its cold. ANd about almost 3 years of driving (and the swap was done a couple of years prior) it's still running!

It has a 700R4 , though not sure how old it is (though I could ask a co-worker who did a lot of work with the guy I bought the truck from).

However, during the past year and half I have noticed a noticeable squeak whenever it shifts. It hasn't gotten worse or anything.

But we're not here to talk about my ride, so CONGRATS on the car!

I'm out in Phoenix Arizona, but we couldn't find a good place that had cactus in time, because it was starting to rain (with luck, we were able to snap about 15 pictures before it started to rain).

It's just a nother black IROC, but enjoy anyway

The car looks awesome but i have to ask, what up with the "night moves" logo on the rear spoiler?I am sure it was on there when you bought it.Is it painted on or just decals?I would get rid of that first.Nice car and congrats.

I assumed this was like a $1000 beater type IROC-Z!
WRONG!

The pictures look flawless to me! Very very nice.

yes, I am going to try to remove the "night moves" from the hatch, but what ever it is (either a picture, or good painting), is under the clear coat... So it will have to wait a while to get doen till I get some more money.

Would I have to repaint the entire hatach? or could the clear coat where the sticker is just be "stripped" off, and then strip the little section of black off and repaint that one section?

Laters!
