Huge Traction Problems (tires I think)

Everytime it rains I have a hard time leaving from a stop. I am not talking about getting on it hard or anything. I leave as lighty as possible (I have a manual) and my right rear tire still spins. The tread on the tire doesn't look bad at all and they are Goodyears 215/60/15. I don't really want to spend money for 16's right now but if I got some new tires what would u all reccomend? What is the widest I can go on my 15 inch rims?

I am not 100% sure here, but I think you can go up to a 235 series on your rim. That alone should help out, but maybe put some weight in the hatch for wet weather.

235 seems about right. I'd go with the widest you can though. The reason you're spinning is the 215 series tires.

i spin too and i have 245's... hmm

wet weather is a no no with my tires... i'll lose control for SURE. whenever i hammer it on a dry road, my tires spin, even when im already moving, they don't grip... i have some tread left, but the tires that came with my car are mickey mouse... time for some goodyear f1's to solve my traction problems

Got posi?

BTW. In the late 90s, Mercedes took to puting their batteries in the trunk on the right side. Something you might want to consider

actually, what i want is a set of tires that'll grab the road when i step on it... not spin uncontrolably till i let off the gas, lol. i want something that grips the moment the tires start to spin, lol

everyone needs posi if u had a 350 or something, i'd say get posi, but since you're TBI and you're a 305... there's no reason in getting posi cuz it's a waste of money. if you want to be fast and get rid of that embaressing 16 sec 1/4 mile time, save up 3 grand for either a 5.7L iroc-z, or a new engine for your car... i bought my car for $2700 and i run mid 14's all day when all i had was a flowmaster exhaust and i removed my cats. im not trying to be mean, just trying to be honest

had some tard come up to me at the track telling me he had a 350 in his RS with a lt4 cam (lol), heads, headers, the works... but the only thing was that he was TBI. he told me he guestimated that he'd run low 13's with his setup (he never ran it before, that was his first time, and he wanted to have a kill under his belt for his first time, lmao), and i told him to put his money where his mouth was. that was an easy 60$ (lol that guy was CHEAAAAP) cuz he ran a 15.7.... i dont see the point of modding up a car with TBI, either change the intake, or get a new motor

Short of a slick on the right side, you will spin pretty much anything. The posi makes both sides spin at the same rate. That means power to both wheels and the power made at the engine is devided by 2 wheels. I suppose you could go to 2 skinny fronts and 1 skinny left rear and 1 slick. That or go to a JY and get a posi or buy one from Jegs. They are about $250, I think

The Goodyear's(GSC's) are the best tires I've used in rain. I had poor results with both Uniroyal and Bridgestone's. Make sure the rubber isn't dead and cracked up, they get hard over time and reguardless of tread depth will spin easily. I run a Zexel too BTW...love it! I haven't ran with the 3.73's yet tho...
