isthere anyway to differentiate a 305 from a 350?
i'm looking into buying a 350 camaro soon and i wanted to know if you could tell them apart, because i dont want to be fooled and get a 305.

i have a pic of one that i want, and i have a pic of the engine bay but i dont know how to post it on here

depending on the year. you can tell by the VIN number or the RPO code
L98 was the RPO code for the 350s.

Other then that its by the block.

Yeah a lot of people with 305's claim an engine swap when there wasnt one so beware. Visually you cant tell but if you go for a ride in it theyre two completly different worlds!

In the center consol. some times even in the little lock box in the back under the hatch lid.

You can also look under the hood for the emissions label. It will say 5.0L or 5.7L.

There is no 350 TPI engines with manual transmissions. The 8th digit of VIN will have an F for 305 TPI and an 8 for 350 TPI, on the left of the rear bumber 305 TPI's have a badge that says Tuned Port Injection, 350 TPI's say 5.7 Tuned Port Injection. The actual RPO for the 350 TPI was B2L, L98 is the Corvette engine, 305 TPI RPO is LB9. Also the 350 TPI engines redline at 5500, while 305 TPI automatics redline at 5000. The emissions sticker under the hood will list the displacement. If there has been an engine swap, there is a pad on the block deck, behind and under the alternator that has the blocks info stamped into it, and on the back of newer block the either say 5.0LG or 5.7LG (Liter Gas). There might be a couple more I am forgetting, besides pulling off a head and measuring the bore (4.000 for 350, 3.736 for 305).

You are correct on some of this.
The RPO code B2L is really the PERFORMANCE PACKAGE & ENGINE PACKAGE V8 5.7LPFI .
Were as the L98 Is really the engine RPO code:5.7 LITER V8 TPI ENGINE

It is possable to have both RPO codes in your car. Just like mine.

easy one easy one. 350 camaros never came with t tops because you could wrap the frame up with the torque. and also 305s have the alternator on the passanger side from 85 to 87 fi.

now dont forget where talking stock for stock no engine replacment

'87 to '89 350TPI cars can have T-tops, '90 to '92 350 TPI cars can't have T-tops.

If I beleive right it was only 91 & 92 that you couldnt get T-tops with a 350 in 90 they stopped doing it half way through the production year.

yes, you guys are right
350 tpi could have t-tops 87-(89 or 90?) and 90 or 91-92 didnt have them
i shouldve checked the tech database on thirdgen.org before i posted this, it has pretty much all the answers you guys gave me
nevertheless, thanks for all the replies
i now feel more confident that i can easily tell the diff between a 305 and 350
and im almost positive that this car i'm looking at is a 350
its got the 5500 redline and i think i saw a little shot of the 5.7 tuned port injection on the rear (these are only computer pics i'm looking at, and they aren't very good so it's hard to tell)
