How rare is my car???

Sorry guys I know this is engine tech but I just have a quick question. I recently picked up a 86 Z28 Iroc from a guy and am ganna sell it as soon as I get it painted, Long story. Anyways it is an 86 with the 305 TPI,700R4,rear disc and posi, power everything and NO T-TOPS. Did they make a lot with no T-Tops? Seems like just about all the Iroc I've seen had T-Tops. While I know No Camaro is really RARE I was just wondering if mine was rare as far as the Irocs go. Thanks for any help guys.

All I know is some rediculous amount of Camaro's were ordered with T-tops. So hard tops in general are wearing thin as far as I can tell. Probably 1 out of every 3 f bodies I see is a hardtop. I could be wrong but I think it was somewhere in the 80% range that Camaro's were ordered with T Tops. Hard Tops are the way to go if you want a stronger body for upgrading that engine!

i disagree...u can run as much power through a t-top car as you want. besides if hes woried about the rareity of it hes not swaping it, its only a 305 so its not goin anywhere to fast. t-tops make a car more enjoyable (in my oppinion. but yea i havn't seen to many hard top rocs. did u check the vin to make sure it is an actuall i-roc. alotta peeps pawn off **** to be what its not.

I don't know man, didn't they not put the 350 TPI in f bodies until 87 cause they had to work out some way to make the T-Top car stronger? I could be wrong on this. Probably am.

That is true. Hell, alot of people will still try to argue with you that they NEVER put 350s in T-top cars.

Best way is to run all the RPO codes

If it's rear disc .......it might be original G92 IROC ......which is semi rare ..

or post them up here so we all can check them for ya !!

Re: How rare is my car???

t-top cars have less structual integrity than hard top cars same for convertables.thats why they have super subframe connectors though.

Nothing is rare on 3rd gen cars. At that time a new car buyer could special order a car from the Dealer and get only the options that buyer wanted (Note: they had to to offered on that model). So now these young kids see these cars with strange option packages and think its rare.

I beg to differ with your thoughts on 3rd gens not being rare, their is a particular one that is more rare then any f-body ever made. That would be the 89 Turbo T/A and I just so happen to be lucky enough to own # 1265 of 1555 ever made. Now if your reffering to the typical 305 or 350 TPI/TBI cars then I agree with you in thinking nothing is special about them, but that's just my 2 cents.

Re: How rare is my car???

ok well you are correct that those are rare BUT,
89 TTA had 1555 made white in color
89 TTA t-top (common)
89 TTA hard top(pretty rare)
89 TTA red in color(only 1 made)
89 TTA black in color(only 1 made)
89 TTA blue in color(only 1 made)
and for the grand finale
89 TTA convertable 1 made
thats what makes them rare!on a side note the only f-bodies of the 3rd gen persuasion that are indeed rare will be the 88 1LE iroc-z
89-92firehawks
91-921LE
there are a few factory freaks that i know for sure exist
91 droptop z28 5.7 5-speed(black)vin-8
92 t-top rs b4c 5.7 5-speed(purple)vin-8
the two of them were friends and were high up at GM,these cars were made for them in cali and shipped to tx....
