I want to know how much hp my car has. It's a Z28 305 TPI automatic. How do i know if it has 205 or 230 horsepower?

my car is a 1991 Z28.

 

should be 205 hp, i have a 350 tpi and that is 230hp

 

i checked in this website http://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/tech/techdb.shtml and it shows two 5.0 tpi one with 205 and 230 hp. the 1991 5.7 has 245, so i'm confused.

 

well according to that website my car has 245hp..hmm I just gained 15 hp just from reading!!!

 

1991 305tpi has 230hp 350 245hp.

 

But what is the diffrence between the two z28 305 tpi if there are the same? Why does one have 205 and other 230? Does anyone know the diffrence?

 

I have never seen that before.I believe that is a mistake.I know from the dealer back in the day you could order a package from slp where they changed the runners and exhaust.

 

The 205 horse cars are non G92 and have the single cat. The 230 horse cars will have a G92 rpo code and dual cats. Yours will be 205 as only the 5 speed cars could get the G92 option with the 305. All 350 autos in 1991 had the G92 option and are rated at 245 horse.

 

Now knowing my car has around 220 hp becuas it has some mods like the exhuast an air foil and k&n air filters with the bottom of the box cut off. How can I Get to 300 horses with this motor or should I change it to a 350.

 

I have also removed all pollution control system.

 

Well what state is the motor in now?Basic bolt on's can get you in the 13's.Head's,cam full bolt on's,can get you further.Look in gmhightechperformance latest issue.There project 305 formula w/5spd is on the door step of 13's.Not to mention 150,000 miles on the clock,and putting down very good number on the dyno for a 305.

I got a 14.16@99mph out of my 86 305TPI 5 speed. would have been a high 13 if I didn't screw up my launch.
