How much for a decent paint job on a 3rd gen?
How much for a decent paint job on a 3rd gen?
I was wondering how much it would be to repaint a third gen. Like price range wise, from a Maaco job to a professional job. Also, is it cheaper to repaint the car the same color or does that matter?
is it possible for them just to do the clear coat also? and whats an estimate for getting rid of some not so bad but still there rust on one of my rear fenders? i'd do it myslef but i want it to look decent
yeah it is cheaper to keep the car the same color, when most people change thye color they do it right and remove the engine to paint the engine bay, remove the doors andpaint the jambs, my buddy ripped his interior out and had that painted yellow as well. if your paint is decient all you may need is a wet sand and a shot of clear coat, my car isnt to bad im getting it wetsanded and a shot of clear coat on it cause shes more dingy then bad paint
250$-50,000$, the range of possibilities is huge.
Figure 2,000-3,000$ for a "decent" job, two stage, no color change.
A "good" paintjob can range anywhere from 5,000$ to 50,000$. If your going to drive the car everyday, you probably don't want to spend 5,000$+ on a paintjob, since the first scratch or rock chip is going to drive you insane considering how much you paid.
That being said, a 250$-500$ cheapo job is probably not going to stay looking good very long, however many people will tell you that will proper preparation, a cheap sprayjob will hold up ok.
There are tons of old topics in here with lots of good information. A search might yeild some good results.

sorry to hi-jack but i was interested in this topic and was wondering if it would be extra $$ to keep it the same color which is black with gold ground effects.
Bassically would i get charged more for the ground effect difference?

its more expensive to change the colour because you have to paint things like door jambs. You can do it for cheaper if you stay the same colour and just dont spray the jambs. Painting your gfx a different colour shouldnt have much of any effect on price
I had a post about this not to long ago but to offer my 2 cents on this subject. Look if you want a paint job that will look good for now, but is going to need a respray in a couple of years, then go to Maaco or some other cheap shop. This also works if you just happen to be like me and you are on a budget. Quality paint jobs are going to be expensive. My best advice to you is call around and get quotes and see which is best for your car and your wallet. Personally i'm starting to like the Color my Car is now don't know why.....I hope it's just a phase b/c Maroon isn't one of the hot colors. Eventually i'll get it repainted to black but that's when I have more money in my pocket. For now i'm content with getting it resprayed. In a couple of years when I have more money to play with i'll get it repainted. But enough ranting just call around and see what it's going to run you. I just hope you don't get your hopes up and expect it to be cheap because it's not. Nothing ever is when it comes to these cars. Good Luck Though
