How to get out Anchor Pin bolt from rear Drums?
Does anyone know how the heck you can remove the anchor pin bolt from a set of rear drum brakes. This is the largest bolt which holds the backing plate to the axle flange. It has been stamped on all sides, so I'm sure it was designed to never come out! There are two smaller bolts on the bottom, but those are a cinch.
I've already tried and impact gun with 90 psi of force but it won't budge at all. I read about using a plumbers wrench on thirdgen.org but after using the impact with no success I was sure this would work.
Has anyone else had to take this bolt out? What tool did you use?
Thanks,
Jeff

Re: How to get out Anchor Pin bolt from rear Drums?
Ok,
So here's my status update...
I was actually able to get the bolt off the drivers side using a 1/2" socket wrench with a 2 foot tube extension to get more torque on it. Whew!
But on the passenger side, I was only able to loosen the bolt enough so that the anchor pin spins when I crank on the wrench. Problem now is that it keeps spinning so much that I am never able to move the bolt!!
I put a vice grip on the pin side but that just started slipping because of the semi-oval shape of the pin. Is there some kind of special tool that will hold this from the outside? (like a anchor pin socket?)
Help!
