How do i found out if its 5.0 or 5.7
How do i found out if its 5.0 or 5.7
well i just got my Camaro, I dont know if to call it a Z28 or an IROC. Cuz the side skirts say Z28 and the little decal on the passanger side dash says Z28 then IROC under it in smaller letters. I know its a 305 TPI and both Z28's and IROCs came with those that year. I paid 2,300 for it, so i guess either way i didmt get ripped off. but help me out.
so there were no 5.7 305's?
cuz: 3. V-8 5.0L Tune Port Injection 190HP@4400 and 285ft/lbs@3200
4. V-8 5.7L Tune Port Injection 220HP@4200 and 320ft/lbs@3200
......and in 86 they didnt make but 50 IROCS with 350's and those were 5.7's i believe.

Ok.
1 Liter = 61.024 Cubic inches
5.7 Liter = 350 Cubic inches
5.0 Liter = 305 Cubic Inches
The difference in performance numbers is because they're different motors just the same type of induction (TPI)

F = 305 ci V8 LB9 (1985-1986)
P = Sport Coupe, Z28
^^There was no IROC-Z option there this is from F-Body Vin Decoder
But it says TPI when i open up the hood. im confused with this shiet.

iroc-z was avaliable beginning in 1985 85-86 only came with 5.0,s 87-90 came with your choice of the 5.0 or 5.7 iroc came with 2 engines what year is yours tell me if your iroc letter or in the front or back portion of your door also tell me about your wheels also 5.0s came with t-tops 5.7 had to much torque for t -tops
Yeah i got T-Tops.
I got an 86'.
I have no IROC letters because the last owner had it painted (you can tell). But im wonderin if it is an IROC cause if it is i will get the IROC door stickers. The Decal on the passanger side dash says Z28 then IROC under it in smaller letters

run the vin # at www.thirdgen.org It will tell you what the car was stock from the factory
different option packages check out this site >>>click me<<< make sure you read the section at the top about what makes an iroc an iroc but read the whole thing lots of good info
Yeah i got the 145MPH speedometer and the 5000 RPM. I also got the round gear selector handle. But my ride does not have the 3rd Brake light at the top of the hatch. I do not have a rear spoiler. I got the ugly *** 88' 15" Aluminum on mines. I still dont know if its an IROC or not, ****.
The letter "F" from your Vin indicates it is a 5.0 305 TPI engine. In 1986 All IROC's were Z-28 With the RPO B4Z for the IROC option added.
1) all 1986 models had the 3rd brake on the hatch.
2) All IROC's came with the 16x8 Aluminum wheels.
3) Z-28 models only had 15' wheells
4) Both models had the rear spoiler.
5) 145 mph and 5000 redline tach are for IROC only.
So where are you on this confuesd car. Sounds like it was in a accident and the Hatch was replaced with a standard Camaro one. The Vin will only tell you its is a Z-28 model with a 305 TPI
which was only available on a IROC RPO LB9. See if if you have the rest of the RPO's under the console hatch lid for additional info.
Again, looks like a car that was repaired in a accident.
