How do I fix the holes in my crossfire hood?
Many years ago somebody tore the crossfire out of my 82 Maro, and took the hood internals with it. The resulting two holes are great for letting in rain and debris. Does anybody have any cheap suggestions? Id really like to keep the air flow at a maximum.
(I actually bought a set of Lund style non functional air scoops. -Like you see on Dodge Rams-. Im going to open them up (make them functional) and lay them over the existing hood. Problem is, they are about an inch too short and dont completly cover the indentations on the hood. Can I use Bondo on this hood to fill the gap, or will it crack with all the flexing this lighweight hood does every time I open and close it?)
Why didnt I buy a scoop that fits you may ask? Nobody makes one. They are all either HUGE racing scoops or stupid little import tuner looking things. I wanted something that closley matched the original contours of the recessed area of the hood. The scoops I bought are the EXACT ones Summit, JC Whitney and other sell. They advertise them as 34 inches long, but are in actuality only 30 inches long.

Are you running a 4bbl in there now with an open element? If so, those little slits aren't really going to hurt your airflow much if you seal them up. You are still sucking in 90% hot enginebay air. Look into one of those ram air setups, of an L69 dual snorkel setup. They flow pretty well for an aircleaner housing. Better than getting water in there and risking some serious damage.
