I have this 2.8 rs...i know-i know its not a REAL car like the iroc's but im short on cash. What're the simple mods that increase horse power? Also what would a supercharger do for me? is it a smart investment? Thanks guys

 

Nobody makes a blower kit for it. At least 3 years ago when I had my 91 3.1L RS they didn't.

Simple mods? Bump up the timing from 10* (stock) to 14*. Drill out the rivets that hold the "nose" (air inlet silencer) onto the air filter canister and remove the nose. Replace the filter with a K&N. Buy a cheap Dynomax 2 1/2" cat-back for the V6 (about $135) and bolt it on. A set of headers and a larger-diameter y-pipe and cat would be the next step beyond "simple" mods. Keep in mind that it's a lot harder to get an extra 10 HP from a little 2.8 than it is from a big V8. Expect no miracles. Overall, probably not worth the money if you want to go fast. Starting with a V8 is much better bang/buck.

 

Thanks Damon. If i were to bump up the timing to 14 would i have to change it back to 10 for it to pass smog? And would my gas mileage go down the drain? Im kinda new at this. So anything helps thanks guys

Bumping up the timing won't affect your emissions much. Might have to use 89 octane instead of 87 like it is normally rated for to stay out of detonation (you won't hear it but your knock sensor will and it'll just dial the timing back undoing everything you've done).
