hood insulation

Question hood insulation

where can i get an oem hood insulation piece to replace my old one??

You want new I'm assuming, otherwise I'm sure you could find some in a yard that's not in too bad of shape. Check www.acdelco.com www.goodwrench.com or go to your dealer.

The insulator does more than just muffle sound. It's there to play a role in keeping the hood from absorbing the heat of the engine. Now one of it's primary roles is actually to be used as a fire blanket. If something was to go up in a blaze under the hood, the plastic clips would melt and the insulator would smother it out.

Ripped my torn up one out years ago. I really like the sound that comes from there now. No problems with heat or anything and as for a fire - is best to always have a fire extinguisher on board.
