hood insulation

You want new I'm assuming, otherwise I'm sure you could find some in a yard that's not in too bad of shape. Check www.acdelco.com www.goodwrench.com or go to your dealer.

The insulator does more than just muffle sound. It's there to play a role in keeping the hood from absorbing the heat of the engine. Now one of it's primary roles is actually to be used as a fire blanket. If something was to go up in a blaze under the hood, the plastic clips would melt and the insulator would smother it out.
Hope you enjoyed that little bit of fun trivia.

Ripped my torn up one out years ago. I really like the sound that comes from there now. No problems with heat or anything and as for a fire - is best to always have a fire extinguisher on board.
