i have a feeling it will run out over the valve cover after seeing where the schrader valve is?

taner, I am unsure what "will run out." Do you mean gasoline will run onto the valve covers? If so just bleed the Schraeder valve with rag over the top of it to catch the initial spray. Another thing is that usually the fuel pressure drains off completely in the lines after a few hours.
If this is what you are talking about, you should be ok seeing as how the car has been sitting for a while already.

no fuel pressure, just when i MOUNT the gauge, do i fashion it so it is pointing out towards the pass. side valve cover. does that make better sense? ie. on my lt1 the gauge is at the back of the motor and barely visible.
no pressure in lines, i am ok there!

Position it so it aims at the passenger side. Take the valve stem out befroe you mount the gauge and put it in a specail place where it wont get lost. It is small and gets lost easy. trust me
