HElP SES light

I was driving home from school today and My SES light came on. The car didn't run differently or anything, and I brought it home and ran the code. It came up as 53............what is my problem?

It is in an 86 lg4 ta.

Any help would be appreciated.

hey bro, this is code 53

EGR Control

Leaking; restricted or improperly routed vacuum line

EGR valve stuck or leaking

poor electrical connection

open or short in circuit

defective egr solenoid

defective ecm

But since this has never happened to you before, my guess is this other code 53 might be it

System Over Voltage

Charging system problem

Hope that helps bro!!

well i looked that up last night and i couln'd make any sence of it. How do I pin it down to one of those things?

It did it when I was driving for about 10 minutes at 60 mph and then when i shut the car off and turned it back on it didn't come back..........

Could just be a freak occurance, but when you turn the car off, it won't come ack on right away, unless you experience the same problem. But thats what my manuals gave me about code 53.

Angry My car does that too!

It is not all of the time, but occasionally the light will come on only after about 60 mph. Sometimes it shut itself off, and sometimes it just stays on. Everything checks out, so I figured no big deal and now I just ignore it.

If you figure out what it is let me know.
