Help Please!
Having some serious problems, hopefully someone give me a diagnosis. After starting... my RPM's in Park will bounce from 1200, then jump down to 500, then rev back up to 1200 rpm and this cycle repeats. Once I throw it into drive or reverse, the car stutters continuously, even stalling. When the car stalls too it will not restart unless it's left alone... will turn over but not start. Transmission?!? Please help!
Welcome to the board! We need info on your car before we can help. I'm assuming you have an A4? 305 or 350? TBI/TPI/Carb? I'd check for any kind of vaccum leaks. You could have possibly blown a gasket somewhere. Good luck.
Hey sorry... rookie mistake. I drive a 1988 Camaro SC, A4 Tran, TBI, 305. Thanks for the quick response and friendly welcome. As we speak my car is out of comission, died out the other day. The other day it wouldn't start, I left it for a day and it then decided to start fine, but still had troubles keeping an idle RPM. After having it one the road for about 1 km however it runs fine, stays at 1000 RPM when idle. Thanks for any more suggestions
check you throtel (spelled wrong) Position sensor. i had a similar problem and my car would run fine until i hit the break while driving. also check spark plugs... i have a problem with my number one cylinder fowling out and it has a problem similar to rpm problem. all i do is clean the plug or change it. Good luck
