Help me get my Z28 Started!!!!!
Help me get my Z28 Started!!!!!
Well I bought an 88 camaro and they told me it was the ignition control module. I bought it ,had it replaced and also bought a distrubutor cap changed the spark plugs, starter and the mechanic still could not turn it on. It does crank but it does not turn on, I have turned it on once but i had to be stepping on the gas to keep it on. Sometimes I hear a loud cranking noise when i try starting it. Any advice is appreciated.
Re: Help me get my Z28 Started!!!!!
You said there is a mechanic working on this? He should know how to diagnose it.
But like was said above:
Check for fuel by spraying ether in the intake (if it starts on ether then it is not getting fuel)
If it doesnt start on ether pull a plug wire and check for spark.
If there is spark then pull the plugs and do a compression test.
One thing it may be is the computer. I used to have a 90 Formula and it had an episode where it was getting spark and fuel but wouldnt start, and it turned out the computer was fubar (according to the dealer) and $450 later it ran again!

Re: Help me get my Z28 Started!!!!!
Check fuel pressure first to make sure it's good.
Pull out a plug and see if it's wet. I had a no start condition on a formula once. Turned out to be the computer firing both banks excessively. 89 bucks at Checkers, exchange.
