Whatever someone is will to pay for it is what anything is worth. Your top dollar isn't always what someone else's top dollar will be.

I have a '88 coupe in the same condition that you mentioned and every time I take it out I get offers for it. I don't know how serious the offers are as I always say it's not for sale, but they have ranged from $6k-$10k. It's all up to you do you want to pay his price or not, there is probably alot of sentimental value to him as he has put alot of his time and effort to keep it nice so to him it is worth alot more than it is to the average buyer. If you want a hotrod to go out and burn the wheels off and just trash as a LOT of people do,then do not even look at it. If you want ,and or plan to keep it as a collector car you may be able to negotiate a lower price ,if he thinks it's going to a loving home.

Gee it's nice to know there is another out ther like me!
he mst be a cool guy! lol!

The (senior) owner actually is a friend and I'm helping him to sell the car. It is killing him to have to part with his baby, it was his dream to own a "Red Convertible Camaro" someday......and on his birthday in 1988 his wife surprised him with it! The funny thing is this car probably have saved his life because the deal was........ he had to quite smoking in order to keep the car......and he did! The wife told me for about 2 weeks after he got the car he took it out everyday with the top down after dinner instead of lighting up a cigarette.
And now the only reason hs is selling is because the wife is ill and he is faced with all kinds of financial burdens......he did stop by a used car lot and they offered him $2800.00 and he almost died! Few years back someone offered him $6K and he didn't even think much about it.
We are pricing it at $5995.00 and hope someone can appreciate its value. To me this car can easily turn into a Show car rank without too much work and money...... possibly a "Collectable" someday!

Well, wish us luck!

Kelly says about $3500 for it ,but because of it's condition and if the market in your area will support a higher price (ie. up scale),and if your not in a big hurry to sell you could get your asking price. When I answered your first post I was under the assumtion you were looking to buy, again sorry some one is losing their friend ,but it's for a good cause. Good Luck.

I think $6K is good to start out at. Anything higher is too high...$2800 from the used car dealer is just comical.

NADA shows retail value at $3248. See, the problem is that they books/websites don't understand the appeal value of the car. There are die hards out there that probably would spend $6K for your car. They may be few and far between though. Don't use KBB or NADA as your only source of value. It might be a guide for you but they're not always accurate due to the type of cars we're dealing with.

STOP!

Ok you got one offer for $5k,have gotten any other offers?
How many people are interested, many lookers?
Do you still have time to wait? If so wait.

If you really don't have time to wait and you haven't had many offers, you may want to sell, but maybe offer a compromise to the best offer(with an explaination as why you need closer to your price)and see if they will come up some.

id say 6 sounds about right if you have time to wait a bit. My iroc had 86 00 km, never seen a winter (canadian car), not on its original paint job, hard top, 350 with some mods. It sold for 7 000 canadian. I bet you could get 6 for a factory original convertible thats in very good shape. This also depends on condition of the motor because 109 miles is getting up there. My best guess is that its worth 6. Doesnt mean youll get 6 but thats what its worth. If you can hold out for a bit i bet youd get at least 5500 but 5000 really isnt too far off of that
