i just bought my camaro z28 a few days ago, the guy i got it from explained the car had been sitting for awhile, it smokes a little now and again, and it has a strange fuel smell that comes and goes i think from the exhaust. I bought fuel injector cleaner, and the smell is still there. There are no leaks and im out of ideas! please help!!

Your problem could be so many things its not even funny :0. It's likely the gas odour is coming from your engine not your exhaust.. Sounds like you are running rich. Does the problem ever go away (ie at higher RPMs)? Do you get really poor gas mileage? Need a little more info

 

no my car has no odor at higher RPMs and it sucks up gas like crazy. the smell usually occurs when im idiling or going at slow speeds

 

sounds like its running rich, since it's one of the easiest things to check besides looking for obvious fuel leaks i'd go that route.
