headlight motors

Ok, so one of my headlight motors never raises the headlight. So i got a couple of new ones (well used) from a guy i was getting some parts from anyway. I think he said theyre from an 82 but i dont know. Anyway, the ones i currently have one connecter with 3 wires coming off it. the new motors have one connecter with two wires, and another with just one. is there any way i can rig this up to work or am i screwed? thanks

on the broken one, does the motor even run? Have you tried the 'pull apart and flip the gear over to the non-stripped side' fix?

Aside from that, you may have to 'hot wire' one of the replacement motors.

the motor does work, its like jammed or something. it'll lift the headlight halfway, then if you pull up on the light you can hear the motor pull it up the rest of the way. then when you turn the lights off, that one stays up. if you start turnin the manual ****, the motor will pull the headlight down. is it just jammed up or somethin? i havent pulled anything apart yet.

sometimes if you start pulling the covers off of things the problem becomes more then obvious. Basically take off as much as you think you can put back together and see if the problem is staring you in the face. Maybe theres a stick jammed in there or something lol i have no idea being a camaro guy just take a look at some of the internals and come back and post

Simply take apart the motor. Be carefull so you see how it goes back together.

The gears should be full of white plastic chips due to the old plastic ***** desintigrating. Clean it out and insert three steel ball bearings. Take the parts to your local hardware store to find ball bearings which fit the best. Put everything back together and your motor should work fine at a cost of $1.50 or less.

Thats great info. Makes you wonder why GM didnt use steel ball bearings in the first place. I'll keep this in mind for the future when mine start acting up. Thanks.
