I don't like the layout, and even if it was better the puny 1.5" primaries are not gonna be big enough for a well-built engine. Also it would be difficult at best to build a y-pipe for them since the collector flange is so high. You can get Heddman shorties for that price and have 1 5/8" primaries into a 2.5" collector and get more power out of them.

Thanx a lot for replying,

Go to www.jegs.com and run a search on part #500-68470. It seems I was mistaken though...they actually have 3" collectors. If you prefer longtubes the # is 500-68460 and the price is the same ($110.)

Ahh... one more thing... what is the differences between long-tube and short-tube headers?

With longtubes the primaries run all the way down to the sides of the oilpan which gives you a little more TQ....with shorties they only go about halfway down. Shorties are a lot easier to run though, because you can put a Y-pipe in the stock location and not lose any ground clearance. They are also MUCH easier to install.

If it's a weekend only car longtubes and true duals are great, but for a daily driver I'd run the shorties and not have to worry about dragging them on speedbumps and such. Also longtubes won't clear the clutch hydros on a manual tranny so if you have a T-5 or T-56 you have to run shorties. It's possible to heat the headers and bend them around the slave cylinder but it doesn't leave much clearance and it really heats up your clutch fluid.

Kool... thanx for clarifying that! And if i do go with shorties, should i keep the stock exhaust setup, or get dual cats, and go with independant exhaust?

Duals are hard to run in these cars without losing a lot of ground clearance. I'd stick with a stock style exhaust but upgrade it with 3" piping and (depending on your local emissions laws) scrap the cat altogether.

The Hooker 2055's are good pieces if you're in an emissions area, $350 from Summit with a good 3" y-pipe.
