header time

so im thinkin its time (either now or in the near future) to get some headers for my car and possibly an exhaust system. ive got a 1992 z28 305 5-speed with the Dual Cats. any suggestions? any experiences good or bad with any particular brand of headers? performance information? any and all info will help.

thanks in advance

Re: header time

if you going shorties i recommend the edelbrock tri coated headers. best gaskets and fit as well as decent price.

long tubes watch out for pace setters, i read alot of bad things about them on this site.

Re: header time

i was thinking about getting an exhaust too and high flow cats. does edelbrock make dual cat headers? most of the places i have been looking have been single cat.

jegs part # 350-68762

or 350-68763 (both are dual cat)

www.summitracing.com probably has them for cheaper but their site is currently down.

Re: header time

edelbrocks are at the bottom of the list!
hooker/headman shorties
slp
flotec
any of these will work spend the cash to have them coated!

Re: header time

If you are running a 305 get 1 5/8" headers. The SLP's would work but you(shop) would have to make your own secondary pipes to the dual cats. That drives the cost up some more.

Re: header time

SLP stopped making the dual-cat y-pipe to go with their headers, but the headers are the same for both. I didnt like their 2 1/4" y-pipe anyway, so I had my own 2 1/2" y-pipe mandrel bent with dual 2 1/2" cats.

Edelbrock IS at the bottom of the list. Their quality has gone way downhill in the last ten years. Those that say Edelbrock headers are the best have not experienced other headers. I have. SLPs, Hookers, and Hedmans are the top of the list. Do a search on this board and the Exhaust board at http://www.thirdgen.org (where I moderate) for the details. *LOTS* of people have posted on this subject.

Re: header time

thanks for the input guys. im definately anti hooker because they took forever to e mail me back and it turns out they dont make anything for me.

im leaning big time towards the headman headers. their customer service people are great and ive heard good thigns about them.
