Having heads ported What size FelPro is recommended?

Just like the topic says, Whats a good size FelPro to use as a base for porting?

I have been looking for a little while here and can't seem to find the answer to my question.

FelPro 1205? Its a bit bigger than a stock gasket right?

Would somthing else work better? I am having the heads ported more than just a little bit. Its gonna be a full port job. Going into the ports and what not.

Recommend!

I think your best bet are stock gaskets. Usually, your port openings will have quite a few irregularities that must be ground away to conform to the stock gasket outlines.

I have found, however, that an intake manifold like an Edelbrock Performer will fit the gasket perfectly with no need for any grinding at all.

If your having them opened up a 1205 will work, but do keep in mind that without a flowbench, backyard porting to "opening up" can be taking a step backwards if someone is using a flowbench then go 1205.

If your just matching, take your largest port and match to it, not match to a gasket, also most your gains in the runners will be found on the roof not the floor.
