Hatch Squeek, how to fix
Hatch Squeek, how to fix
Hey guys. My hatch has seen better days. Lately, it has been squeeking like crazy. I have not driven this car in a long time, but I am kinda forced to now, my 4th gen is parked. However, I don't remember the hatch squeeking that much. What can I do to prevent/reduce this? Thanks.
If it sqeaks when you lift it, you need to grease the hydralic lifter strut bars. If it bounces around and sqeaks while drive and on bumps, there are these two rubber bolts on the underside of the deck lid. Turn these counter clockwise to raise the closing height of the deck lid. Be carefull though if you raise them too high they can confuse or damage a third gens pull down motor.
I think my problem may have been unique in that it was probably caused by my body man, but I had squeaking and leaking issues in my hatch and it was the mounting bolts and nuts that came loose were the actuall glass is attached to the hinges. Like I said I think it was from when my hatch was off at one time during painting but I am not sure, take a look at it and it only takes a couple seconds to tighten if that is the problem.
Go to www.thirdgen.org and look in the tech articles section. There is an extremely in dept discription on how to fix the hatch alignment problem.
