Has anybody ever?

Has anybody ever disconnected the A.I.R. pump and just did away with all the garb that goes over the passenger side exhaust manifold? If I did, what kind of problems might I run into? I'm upgrading a 92 z28 so you'll know what I'm working on. The car does have Hooker comp. headers-shorties, with the emissions hook up on them. Anyway does anybody know the answers? Thanks

Trash it. You won't run into any problems. If your headers have provisions for the air tubes, just get plugs for them. You won't really have any gains from it, just a much nicer looking engine bay.

I agree. If you're really ambitious you can tear the guts out of the smog pump and that'll free up a tiny amount of power, like maybe 1-1.5hp.

It'll make it much easier to change you pass. side plugs.

Scrap it. I took mine off about 6 or 7 months ago and I have had no problem with codes yet. I heard the plugs may plow and you'll need to replace them but I haven't had any problem with that either.
