Getting the most from my engine.
Getting the most from my engine.
I have a stock TPI 350. The heads are 14102193 which I believe are factory for the motor. I have to run exhaust manifolds on it because it is in a S-10 pickup and I have to have air tubes and headers wont clear the suspension with Air Ride. Is it worth it to change the cam or anything else if I am running manifolds and those heads with a stock TPI intake. Would I be waisting my money on a HSR intake if I am leaving the exhaust manifolds on it? What is the limiting factor on these motors? Is it the heads, the intake, or the exhaust mainifolds?
Re: Getting the most from my engine.
look into a custom prom chip,
I've put them in a couple cars as of late and seen some good gains,
I even ran a low mile 350TPI with my stock other then chip and exhaust 125,000 mile 305TPI

Re: Getting the most from my engine.
You can find out what kind of heads those are at www.mortec.com/ - and personally, I've always figured that the intake ran out of breath a bit before anything else, but I could well be wrong... Have you thought about "blockhugger" headers, like the street rod guys use?
If you're stuck with the exhaust manifolds, you could also look into Extrude Honing... Some of the "factory stock" drag racers out there have done that with their exh manifolds, & they're running (I think) 11s...
