Gears & Carrier For Car, They Fit?

Got a guy few hours away(actually bought my old headers from me) who has 3:73 posi gears and carrier that he's selling. He bought them from another guy who bought the gears new for his project, but never finished with it. The guy who has the gears now thought he was going to replace his 305 but never did, now wants to get rid of the gears. There's been some confusion about what they are or what their for, he thinks their just GM gears. But here's my question... would they fit my '91 Z28? He doesn't know all the specs, but he pulled these numbers off the gears, all he could find.

on the pinion:
14092112-11-41-GM-7 5/8

on the carrier:
28M6H and 049-2

another one on the carrier:
013096C

and on the ring:
GM-14092111-11-41-7 5/8

first off these are GM gears for obvious reasons, secondly 7 5/8 means 10 bolt rear, which is whats in your car. the last 4 digits (11-41) are the gear ratio which actually means (41 divided by 11)= is 3.7272727 which is 3.73 gears yes they'll fit your rearend, but im not sure of the numbers on the carrier, find out if its a 2 or 3 series carrier, if its a series 2 most likely the gears werent made for it. last i checked series 2 is 3.08 and numerically lower, and series 3 is 3.23 and numerically higher

Awesome, your my new best friend, I'm hitting him up right now to see what series they are. If he doesn't know right off... anyway to find out by looking at the gears?

EDIT: Well, he doesn't know what series they are. Either way, is around $100 good deal for'em? He started the offering at $300 but didn't sell so he slowly lowered his price till he said $100 his bottom price, wants them gone like tomorrow if possible.

as long as it is for a 7 5/8" rear... it should fit... it will be difficult to get the correct shims etc. for you to correctly install it... does he have a pinion to go witht he carrier and gears? you need a pinion to match that ring gear. Are you going to install it?

What's the spline count? Your car has 28. 82+ 7.5" 10 bolts came in both 26 and 28 spine, and are not interchangeable.

It has the pinion and all that with it, unsure on the spine count though...
