Gauge Cluster

Hey, this is my first post on the board! I just got my first camaro today and put it on the road. its an 84 Z28. I was wondering about the gauge cluster. Everytime i turn the car off the RPMs go to 1500 not to 0 like they should, but when i turn the key to the on position it clicks back to zero. Another thing, my fuel gauge dosent work, when i turn the car off it will slowly drop down but when i put the key in and turn it to the on position it rises and goes all the way up till it stops (way past full) and just stays there. also the Speedometer dosent give an accurate reading, my and my friend were going about 80 on the highway and my gauge was about a half inch past the 85 mark and i was going steady beside him. I just wanted to know if could buy another gauge cluster to fix these problems or is it something ot do with the car itself. Do the gauges normally go bad like that being that its 20 years old? Thanks to any posts!

i had the same problem with my old camaro with the gas gauge, when i would fill it all the way up the needle would go way past full and it wouldnt start reading correctly until i got down to about a half of a tank, i narrowed it down to the sending unit but to get to it you have to drop the gas tank which is a PITA! it still let me know when i had to fill it up so i just let it go. hope this helps
