Well I think I fried my 700R and i am looking for a new tranny. I Just wanted to get and idea what you guys think would be a better replacement for what i have in my car. (Read the sig). I dont know how much hp/tq i am putting out I am guessing around 400hp/410tq.

 

Do you need an overdrive?

 

yes i would like to have overdrive, i am running a 3.73 rear. And i would like to keep it somewhat streetable.

 

Rebuild the 700R.

Make it bulletproof.

Or swap in a T56

 

Also if you know how much it would cost that would be helpful too.

 

www.rosslertrans.com is the company that does trannys for LPE and recommended by them. Motor lasted 3.5 years with tranny in sig beating on it several times a day and almost year round.

 

BTW, it is easier to do an R&R on the 700R4 than to do a removal and install a T56 in it. You do have to do some cutting of the floor. I would say that it is a PITA and if you really wanted one, get another car with a stick in it. If you are autocrossing a lot, a stick is a must.

The swap isn't too hard at all. Going from an auto, there will be maybe 3 more things you'll have to do. Well worth it!

 

i would have to agree Racing around with a stick is more fun. but i am still open for more sugestions

Check out www.pro-built.net . Street/strip will set you back about $1400. Holding up fine behind my blown 383.

 

You're talking T56 swap? I've got $1000 in mine, total. Figure, with going from auto, you'll be looking at around 1100 if you can get the same deals I got. Look around classifieds. EBay/Yards rarely have them. Put an ad in the parts wanted forum or something.
