Found problem with my car

lol This is funny, We had to change the Oil Sending unit set up a couple diff. times because the fitting we put in kept cracking on us. Well we got it finally fix but we were still have a major oil leak.So we went looking for the problem. Found out when the Manifold went on the gaskets slipped. Hopefully today it will get fix that way I have the Option of going racing on friday (which I will most likely stay home to watch SG1)

Did the intake manifold gaskets slip? Or did the rubber end seals slip?

Regardless of whether or not the rubber end seals slipped, they should not be used. Use a 1/4" bead of Black RTV instead. And it's also good practice to lightly coat the intake gaskets around the water ports with the RTV, to aid in sealing and to hold the gaskets in place.

Was the rubber stuff that we ended up with when we ordered the HSR. My husband went out today & got some new ones & is going to do them when he wakes up this evening.

I have already told my husband thats most likely what I am doing. We have two race dates this month & then we leave for Reno at the end. I dont know if I want to race at all this month. The money we save by NOT going racing is like $110 plus the gas ( $25 for each of us on friday nights plus $20 for babysitting, then its $20 for each of us on saturday & then the babysitting)

I just ran a bead of "The Right Stuff" and tossed the end seals. Nevewr used them before and no leaks there.

It's black RTV and I run a bead over the ends and a little to hold the gaskets in place. I toss the rubber things. Hopefully they recycle them into something more useful like condoms. The rubber seals have a habit of blowing out.

That should be fine as long as you make sure the mating surfaces are perfectly clean and have no oil residue so the silicone sticks good.

If you throw out the husband, give me a call. You've heard of sub teachers? I can be a sub husband for a small fee. The better looking the girl, the smaller the fee.
