Fabricating Louver Brackets

I just scored a great louver for $13.50 on ebay and it showed up today. I got it for so cheap becuase they are hideous and becuase it didn't include any mounting brackets. So how could I mount them on my car? I don't know what the stock brackets looked like but I can work with metal and have some tools. Any info would be great!

Hey, there are no mounting brackets for hood louvers. You have to drill holes in your hood and the studs go threw to the underside. Then you put a nut on em. sounds like you got a pair and all the studs were broken off. (common problem)

I drive a firebird so I forget that there are hood louvers on camaros. I actually got a rear window louver for my firebird but came with no mounting hardware besides the upper hinge.

They are pretty ugly, oh well. The rear window is too plain right now.

Get it tinted, and get a spoiler and a big pontiac bird on the back window. That will look 10 times better than those louvers..

Hahaha! Window banners are even more rediculous than louvers! And atleast a louver fits the car since its from the 80s. I don't really like tinted windows becuase it can get hard to see out of at night (at the right angle louvers are perfect). No spoiler is going to make the back look less empty.

I have no idea. It has plastic sides with aluminum flat panels between them and has a cutout for the 3rd brake light on a camaro.

well bud mine has the third brake light on the spoiler but yes your louvers are basically like mine plastic sides aluminum in middle. I'll see what i can do about getting pictures i dont have a digital camera so it might be a few days. I'll dig them up tomorrow and i might be able to make you a spec sheet of some sort. do the louvers still have the twist locks on them? it would be on the plastic pieces

There are 6 points to attach the louvers besides the hinges, two on each side and two on the bottom outside corners. They all have special clips that use Dzus (zoose) fasteners, the two bottom clips use a mounting tape to secure them to the window glass. You may still be able to get them from Chevrolet, and opinions are cheap everybody has one,so if you like the louvers go with them, some people think they are alright,Ido. hehe!
