Exhaust sound level
Hi there,
my car just passed the MFK today, similar to German TÜV, the only thing which made my mechanic to think of, the Flowmaster 80 had to be changed to the Super Turbo from Dynomax, cuz of strict sound level laws. That means I was running my car for almost 3years with the Flowmaster and my mechanic thinks I should be happy to have passed the car with a Super Turbo.Normally he had to reduce the sound leve even with the Dynomax and later on we switched again to Flowmaster, which is not really legal ;-).
It is a 1985 IROC with a softly modified 305 LG4, dynoed 193HP. Before year 1988 we don't have to use any CAT which might sound strange to you, but it's the law, so my question, is there any other type of muffler which is somewhere between ? The Flowmaster is really roaring and the Super Turbo is too quiet that means I am also looking for a deep sound. My car was imported from the 1st owner who worked in Canada, so it sounds much better than any other original GM Europe Camaro (you can not tell a V8 or V6 is working then).
