exhaust question

i have an 85 5.0 tuned port iroc. somebody please tell what the best sounding muffler i can get.

i'd like it to sound deep and mellow (if that makes any sence), and not too lound but not too quiet.

Flowmaster 80 series sounds like what ur lookin for.
other companies are Dynomax (not as loud),Hooker makes a cat-back for 3rd gens (never heard it tho,so i dunno) and Magnaflow i think makes a muffler for 3rd gens...there agin, ive never heard it lol. Borla also makes a muffler now too,but there again...ive never heard it,but i would love to hear it.

sorry for the almost-no-help i gave, but atleast u might have a better idea of whats out there.

Ive heard almost every exhaust option on thirdgens. A dynomax bullet muffler sounds the best. Loud, deep, throaty, wakes the dead at WOT.

That would be wonderful if most of us didnt' have neighboors who'd complain at the drop of a hat.

I've got a 3" mandrel bent catback on my car with the flowmaster 80. Its what came on the car, and I don't know if i would have bought that cat-back in the first place. Its loud, don't get me wrong. But it has too much interior resonance for me. I like hearing the engine when I get on it, but I don't want to hear it all the time.

Flowmasters are designed quite differently than many other mufflers. They are built to enhance and amplifly certain frequencies, not just to muffle the exhaust flow. 350TPI Flowmaster80

I've heard both the Hooker Aerochamber, and some sound clips of a Magnaflow on a foxbody stang. I really like the sound of both fo these mufflers. I will probably swap the muffler out for one of these two mufflers.
