Re: Exhaust

we need some more info on what you want...do you want dual tips out back? cat or no cat? whats your price range? if you want something loud do like dual bullets dumped underneath...if you want the loudest of catback systems go with like a american thunder setup or something...

Re: Exhaust

I'm not sure, I heard you can't do a real dual exhaust but i want 2 tips pointing ou the back, i don't know what a cat sounds like off/on. What's the diameter of the stock exhaust? I want 2.5" or maybe even 3" the whole way

I was looking at the borla catback but for the price I could get a rpm series or american thunder with headers.

But i will most likely get whatever is the nicest/loudest sounding

Re: Exhaust

i got duals on mine dumped underneath...so yea duals are possible....what you wanna do then is get a 3" catback if you want two tips hanging out the back...the american thunder sounds to be one of the louder catbacks, but not one of the best flowing...so if your going realy high performance stay away from the american thunder....but from what i've heard, its one of the loudest out for our cars....but, you can talk to SLP and sometimes they can piece together a loudmouth system that will work on our cars....then thats basically a straight piped exhaust, and it would be loud as hell...there are so many ways of doing it...maybe SLP will just sell you the rear section, then you can get a dynomax intermediate pipe and overaxle pipe, and you could have a 3" catback with no muffler, or you could get rid of the cat and run a single dynomax bullet there.....its all about how you want it to sound and how much you want to spend...

Re: Exhaust

All these combos are confusing, whats the difference beween a catback exhaust system and a non-catback exhaust system? More noise, more power?

Re: Exhaust

A catback sysem goes from the catylitic (sp?) converter back while a full length (or non-catback) exhaust goes from the manifolds or headers all the way to the back. It's very hard to do a full true dual on a 3rd gen. camaro.... it's possible, but if I were you I"d just stick with a cat-back system.

Good luck.

Re: Exhaust

like stated above, a catback is jsut that....it goes from the cat (catalaytic converter) to the back...then you use the stock manifolds, y pipe, and cat/cats...duals like mine are aftermarket headers, and completely custom fabricated exhaust pipes...check out my cardomain page if you need an idea of duals....some people have managed to pull duals off in factory location, but this is very difficult to do, and I would not recommend it for you....so the thing you should do is get a catback system....however there are so many combinations of that too...it all depends on what you like.. are you going for sound quality, or do you want it obnoxious/loud....you can piece together a real loud one, or you can buy a complete easy put together in your driveway kit....its all about your preferences man...

Re: Exhaust

For a 305 I'd recommend just a catback system with a loud muffler. Make sure the pipes are mandrel bent and not crush bent, as that restricts flow bigtime.

Re: Exhaust

I just got a Dynomax Intermediate Pipe and Single in Dual out Ridiculously high flow muffler. The Intermediate pipe was $150 shipped from Summit and the Muffler was $100 from Summit. Not too bad for a Dynomax Catback. Did I mention that there is a $50 mail in rebate on my muffler? This is ALL 3" stuff. I'll go get you guys the part numbers. brb.

Re: Exhaust

Here are the 3 part numbers.

WLK-44063
WLK-43248
WLK-17227

Those will get you a complete 3" catback system minus tail tips from the muffler.

For a 305 I would say it will sound very nice. I don't know how much of a performance gain if any it will yield. And I swear to god if anyone comes in here spouting off anything about retaining back pressure I am gonna kick myself in the face... Backpressure is your enemy. Read it again, and deal with it.

Re: Exhaust

you would probably gain more with a 350 because with more CI's you'll have more of a restriction with exhaust and intake...but with a 305, you'll see not as much...it depends which 305 you have, if you have the 190hp ones i would maybe say you could get it up to abotu 250 fairly easily depending on which exhaust and which intake ya know...a 350 you could maybe get like 275 or 300 outta them with a stock cam and intake/exhaust...the cams that came in these cars are puny, they tend to hold you back alot....

4" single to a Flowmaster 4" 2 chamber muffler in place of the cat-converter. Goodluck.
are you kidding me with that one? who would even think about putting something like that on a 305 car??? I don't know if its a joke or if your serious..

The guy asked for something LOUD. LOUD LOUD LOUD LOUD......... I Upgraded my 305 to a 396. 4" Will be good for me with the muffler I described. A 3" system in place of my 4" reccomendation i'd do all day on a 305. A shorty(before the axle) 3" Single in/out system is unbeatable for a 305. I'm guessing the guy is like me. Eventually he'll be looking for more power in a muffled application. 4" Would suit him just fine in the "long run" as would a 3" right now.

Yes Denny had that setup on his 305. I have seen his car. Denny, By the way I installed that dashboard I bought from you.
