just wondering i saw a couple pics in a different thread where people put a ls1 in third gens and it appeared to me that the engine and tranny stayed connected and just droped in if that makes any sense. . . my question is, is that possible or am i misunderstanding what im seeing, and also can if this is possible it be done with a ghetto rigged cherry picker? TIA

 

also just so you know it would be a 89rs and both engines would be 305tbi if it makes a difference

 

Sure, lots of people do it that way. However, in our cars it is a little more difficult. You really need to angle the motor/trans to get it in there, which is quite dangerous. It would be just as easy to remove the trans before pulling the motor.
