Engine Block Casting #'s
Can I use this to find out when the block was made? I found a block I want to buy but I am not sure if I can use roller cams with it because of the year.

Very common high strength 4" bore SBC. That casting was used for 327 and 350's from 1969 to 1980. It can be 2 or 4 bolt. Pickup trucks usually have the 4 bolt block. It will use a 2 piece rear main seal.

No on the roller cam, unless you do a retrofit. You can research the engine code of any block to see it's original application. It's found on the pad in front of the passenger side head, mostly.

i know somebody already answered your question...but for future referance, www.mortec.com is a great website for casting number identification both for heads and blocks..
