EGR Help

I have an EGR failure code 32 popping up.It doesn't make a difference in the way the car runs. How can I keep the EGR valve in the car (connected /disconnected),and keep the code from popping up?
Is there a resistor or something made to stop the computer from reading the EGR valve. It just iritates me

Thanks
Roger

Re: EGR Help

I had that once a while ago. Found I had a bad EGR control module (on the back left of the manifold. Engine ran OK just gave a code. Be sure which is bad before you spend your bucks.

Re: EGR Help

Thanks for the help so far.I disconnected the wire going to the EGR temp sensor and now I don't get a code. The TPI swappers guide is telling me with no code 32 with the wire disconnected ,I have a short in the wire or a faulty ECM.The car is idling and running fine. My question is ,If i just leave the wire disconnected what can happen? Can I hurt anything?Would there be short or long term side effects to doing this?

Thanks
Roger

Re: EGR Help

Well last week I tried an annual emissions test with the EGR system programmed out of the ECM my car passed but the NOx was at 762 ppm the limit is 796 ppm. Last years test resulted in a 199 ppm. I decided to do some datalogging. The EGT was about 75* to 100* high. CTS was as much as 115* high and, the knock sensor was very active. I usually see 2 to 3 knock counts on the drive home this time I saw about 30 counts. I believe this would be much higher if ambient temps were higher so be careful obviously my cylinder pressures were pretty high. I tried it to see if I could install my LT1 intake but I think I'm going to wait till I get new heads and install a cam to compensate for lack of an EGR. I did reprogram the EGR back into the ECM to be safe. If I were you I would fix this problem or reprogram the ECM if you leave the EGR out This was a little long winded but I think you can get a little info from my testing.
