Switching the tranny might be eaiser. With an engine swap you got new harnesses etc you have to swap out. But of course more info on the car would be useful. Is it in a car you got now, or looking into?

Swapping engines is much easier. The engines are basically the same. Swapping in a manual for an auto is a pain in the ***. Be warned though a stock T-5 wont stand up to much power.

I agree that swapping engines is easier but I'd go the tranny route-> 5-speed won't hold up too well to a 350.

What is your budget, if you have a large enough one, and really want the manual, get the 305 and swap in a 350 with a t-56
