dynoed the 305 TBI/N20

Well I got the RS to the dyno today. First NA pull was

176hp
232ft lbs

50 shot
200 hp
306tq

75 shot
230hp
325tq

100 shot
302hp
394tq

I will post the graph when they get it up.

305 TBI small cam (stock LT1 size) 6speed moser 12 bolt 4.10's On Nittor DR. on a Dyno Jet!

I was looking for 250hp and 350 tq on the 100 shot biggrin.gif I let the car cool good and got the bottle temp to 1,100 on the 100 shot. I pulls real good now. (I just need to learn to shift it faster now)

Interesting numbers. That is quite a jump from the 75 shot to the 100 shot. Allen

Thats all w/ your *modified* TBI 305??? That doesn't sound right. My 305 put out more than that stock... I can't imagine why your numbers look like they do

Wait.. you have the stock heads on there?

Re: dynoed the 305 TBI/N20

I only made one NA pull. Who knows it might make more power than that. Best et NA in the 8th was a 9.23 not to bad for a tbi 305. The heads are stock.

Ok, that explains it a bit, lol (you still have stock heads). The hp/torque stated still sounds a little out of whack though

The 305 TBI puts out like 170hp to the crank stock. Thats like 140 or so to the wheels. The TBI unit itself is a big restriction so even with mods it would be tough to get good numbers without nitrous.

The intake on a TBI engine is also very restrictive?

Yes. The stock snorkel intake is very small, especially with the cold start diverter (or whatever its called) sitting in the way. Even with an open element air cleaner, your fuel injectors still sit in the way of air flow. Thats why there is a 60 hp difference between the 305 TBI and the 305 TPI units stock (170hp TBI -> 230hp TPI).

Thank you for the help But are the fuel injectors too small on tbi's or what?

Re: dynoed the 305 TBI/N20

Track times

Started out on Nittos and a 100 shot. I think my best with that setup was a 8.63 The tires were spinning pretty bad. So I got tired of that and put my et streets on and went a 8.32 (100 shot)

Then I put in the 150 jets and went a 8.05 1.70 60ft @ 85mph. then a 8.07,8.08,8.08.

I really wanted it to go in the 7's maybe with a little more traction and some tuning it will be there. The car ran great and I had a blast shifting the gears. I will try to get some video's up for you guys to see.

I also wanted to run a 200 shot but I didn't have any jets for a 200 shot.
Might just have to stick with the 150.
