Shafts ( LT1 & LS1) will fit on 3rd Gen cars both manual and auto as a DIRECT bolt on without any modifications as long you get one that is complete.. Don't pay more then $150 for a used one, less if you can .

yep, it really improves throttle response and although the weight difference is only a few pounds the rotational weight is great.
however, be leary down the road if you start adding some serious horsepower. for stock cars and under 300 horse you should be fine. up the power and put a sticky tire on the car and you may twist it.
i bought mine used for 100....you should check junkyards too as sometimes i've seen them go for 50.

I have read many conflicting reports on these aluminum shafts actual strength. Some guys claim to have have run 1.5 60' with these stock shafts yet others claim they break with stock LS1 6spd's on street rubber. Does anyone know what they are rated for?
