Question Doing a non-SMOG TPI Buildup for my better half's car!!

Hey guys, I just wondered if you guys would post your TPI engine combo's for me. I am doing a TPI motor because it looks clean and because I already have most of the parts. The whole TPI setup was pulled from a rolled '86 Camaro. The intake, runners, and plenum are stock and really didn't plan on new one's. The stock injectors have been changed to 24# units. This is just going to be her street car. The guy I bought it from also threw in a whole Painless Wiring Kit and CPU.

I thought about building her a decent 350, or pull the 383 from my Camaro (then putting the 305 back in it). More than likely I'll end up building a decent late model block 350. I had also thought about running Vortec heads, and the TPI-Vortec intake. The ZZ4 cam's are everywhere for almost nothing, so I thought that would be a nice choice too.

Anyway, post for thoughts and combos. Dyno readings would be a huge plus too guys. Thank you for your time.

I say polish that TPI intake and make it look really nice

I like vortec heads but if I were you I would hog the crap outta the L98's (maybe get some aluminums) instead, try to keep it more stock . Seeing as how it's your wife's and I somehow doubt her need for speed is as great as yours . She'd still be pretty fast tho no doubt . I'd just hog the crap out of your stock intake too. Siamese part way, get some new runners etc.
The zz4 is a decent choice, may as well. They are after all cheaper than dirt .

Question

That's sounds cool.

I wonder how much to have the TPI polished (then maybe clearcoated-powdercoated) or a color powdercoated.

I am worried that the CPU is going to freak out about the ZZ4 cam. Is it mild enough not to worry? Thanks again.

good site on how to buff and polish yourself (amongst other things).. I'd expect to pay a decent amount if you get it done professionally. It's fairly labour intensive to do it right . I wouldn't get it powdercoated with anything... go check out the pics of the polished runners, plenum etc. They look beautiful

Also you might be ok if you have MAF setup. If you've got a SD setup you're going to need a new chip for sure with the new cam. Pretty good thread on the PROM burning section of thirdgen.org (the sticky thread..) if you want to learn how to do it yourself.
