just courious, its all stock, but im planning on switching to a 350.

 

Stock, in good tune I saw only around 15-16 MPG city driving. However, extended highway trips and I could knock down 24-25 easy. That's with the 700 and 3.08s.

Good tune being the deciding factor. Before I did any tune up work I was sucking down the gas to the tune of only 15MPG highway. A full ignition tune up, a quick carb tune up and a new O2 made a huge difference!

so far i've gon all summer on one tank of gas but thats becasue insurance laws suck ***** and the 83 z's just been chillen untill i get more money.

can i really expect mileage that good tho with a well tuned lg4?cause that seems pretty dam good, im actually very happily surprised.

i can relate to the slow part but i was wonderin what you did to make it loud? casue thats one potential of the 305 that might help me to accept the 305 for a longer period of time.
and 141db is high enough to cause deafness i think haha i dont care tho

 

When my 86 LG4 was stock it pulled down 18 mpg around town. Now that I've built it to the point it has TWICE the hp, and replaced the 2.73s with 3.42s, it pulls down 19.5 mpg around town!

Don't ask me why or how but I am one happy guy

how much gallons does the tank hold? and if you know, what the mpg for a 350 (im expecting it to be low gas mileage)?

 

I believe it holds about 15gals, it's been down for a few months, but the owners manual will tell for sure .
As for the L98 350, I usally get around 22-24mpg highway (3.23gears)and 20-22mpg city, "IF" I drive it normally, which is getting harder to do all the time. I can drop it to around 15mpg if I ride it hard...which is normal for me....it's an inspiring car!

 

15.5 gallons. I don't know about 350mpg, shouldn't be much lower if any.

i don't think his car is making 141 db....a harley makes like 100. a 141 db car would make you deaf quite quick. i'm pretty sure hes talking about his sound system....in case you thought it was his car.

 

what do you mean normally and driving hard?

 

my 305 TPI made 14mpg and 25mpg (3.08 gears/ 5spd)

my 350 TPI makes 14mpg and 24mpg (??? gears/auto)

could be alot! better if I drove normaly
(I think I could get rid of my gas pedal and just have a "go fast / stop fast" switch)
