discontinued 3rd gen parts
I'm planning on ordering a t56 from Sallee Chevrolet in Oregon. Its a retrofit 6 speed designed for 82-92 f-bodys. Unfortunately, my car is auto right now so I need a few GM parts that come with 5 speed 92 Camaros right out of the factory, but many of the parts have been discontinued. I need a T5 console cover (console cover that comes with manual tranny Camaros in 92), bellhousing, and the shifter. I dont know where to begin looking for this stuff... a junk yard?? I wanted all new parts though!!! Ebay didnt have anything really either. They still have a shifter boot (what the hell IS that anyway), flywheel (may get aftermarket one though anyway), master cylinder for clutch, and T5 computer chip (but my factory auto chip may work anyway) so what should I do? I'm trying to hunt down all the parts and then order the transmission.

I couldnt find the part you were talking about, I only found parts for old Camaros, like first gens. What do you mean by "they are on the high side"?
I dont mind buying a new aftermarket console, in fact I'd much rather do that than find an original one in a junk yard.

Last time I checked, classic industries and all the other places like it are getting $100 for the console plate. There's one on ebay right now for a 90-92 car. I've been watching it because even though the numbering is the wrong color for my car, it appears to be in otherwise nice condition.
But anyway, you're going to pay a bloody fortune for new stuff. The best thing you can do is keep checking Ebay (this stuff is always on there), or call one of the sponsors on the thirdgen.org site. thirdgenparts.com offers T5 swap kits all the time, so even if you had to buy a full kit including the trans, you'd still be better off than buying new stuff, plus you could turn around and sell the T5 to get most of the money back.

What's wrong with junkyards? I find many nice parts there for little cash depending on the place. Though it's unlikely you'll find a V8 t5 car out there, Junkyards around here seem to be littered with V6 T5 cars and the center conslol should be the same.

you're not going to want a stock shifter from a 92 camaro, for one its for a t-5 and you're installing a t-56.... missing that place to put 6th might become a problem
I agree with Jim in the fact that you're gonna pay a WHOLE LOT more than you would if you buy used parts. Shop around and look for deals, they are out there you just gotta find them. Ebay is wonderful for finding random stuff you are gonna need for this project and of course future ones as well
good luck

Tried to talk you out of this but you wouldn't listen.
Get a new flywheel and clutch assembly from auto parts, chevrolet or aftermarket. Make sure you have the right starter.
The bellhousing, cluch fork and pivot as well as the clutch brake pedals/brackets etc. Will probably have to come from a junk yard.
or E-bay. The bellhousing is aluminum and is the same for all V6 and V8's with a five speed.
Should be able to get the clutch master and slave cylinders from auto parts.
This trans. come with the shifter but no shift lever/ball. Get after market. As well as the trans. cross member.
There are two shift boots. One rubber boots that covers the hole in the floor and keeps out the water and dust. And one leather one that fits over the shift lever in the console.
I'm sure I've forgotten lots of other stuff, good luck!!
