disc brake conversion kits

ive been lookin everywhere and i cant seem to find a good rear disc brake conversion for 3rd gen camaros that still allows you to have an e-brake. do you guys know of a site where i can go and check out a kit? any brands you'd suggest staying away from?

Thanks

Find someone selling a rear disc setup. I just sold a set last month. LT1 rear brakes are the same as the 3rd Gens so they work as well. Post an ad in the Parts Wanted section, or check EBay. If I was you and doing a brake upgrade, I'd go straight to LS1 style. That's what I'm doing.

How about them? Friend of mine with a Mustang did that and said the kit was so complete that he could work on it all day long till it was done without a phone call to tech support or a trip to the hardware store.

If I had kept my Merkur XR4Ti I would have installed their brake upgrade. From word around the Merkur boards, they are the cat's meow.

Doesn't seem too bad, or at least I hope it won't be

I don't exactly know, LS1 cars stop 60-0 in ~125 ft which is pretty daggone quick. Anyone know what a 4 wheel disc 3rd Gen stops in?

Like I said above, LT1 cars have the exact same rear setup. They are everywhere. Won't be hard to find that.

I dunno but mine stops VERY nicely.
All I have done is replace all calipers, pads, and rotors.

Oh, I bet but just imagine with larger rotors, it could only get better. Also, I *think* the front LS1 calipers are 2 piston compared to the single piston 3rd Gen/LT1. Someone verify that though.

Yes, mine are definetely one piston. Same with my truck.
Friend's 1999 5.3 are duals though. If so I could almost be certain that the LS1s (maybe even LT1s) are dual.

Baer Brakes sell a rear drum to disc conversion that has a working e-brake. My friend has it on his 82 Trans Am.
He also has the Baer brakes up front as well.

Kit is pricey, $700 for the rears and $1100 for the Fronts.

i think when you look at the price/performance aspect of it, going with the 3rd gen or LT1 rear disc brakes woudl be the best bet for me.
they DO have a working e-brake, right?

Yes, there are 3rd gen ebrake cables that will work with the LT1 setup as a direct bolt on. LS1 brakes require some fabbing of the equalizer.

Do you have a 9 or 10 bolt rear? I have a brand new, complete PBR rear brake setup for sale if interested. Everything is new...calipers, pads, rotors, and all.

Let me know...

Ed
