has anyone personally swapped intake setups on their existing long blocks and recorded the difference in data?

i've read plenty of articles on the various setups but i'd rather see real world results. i have a stealth ram i'm going to do such with on my own, wish i had a super ram and ported stock setup

Re: direct intake swap?
I had a SR and think I like my HSR a little better. Although the SR would be better for hood clearence for the 91 Vette I have now I think I will keep the HSR and cut a hole in the hood. It is much easuer to install than the SR ever could be and believe me, I have done the R&R several times where I am good at it now.

You can cut down the plenum on the HSR to get it to fit under the hood of a C4. I've seen pics of it done. There's actually a company that makes a new plenum that fits, but i dont' recall the name. If i find it i'll let you know.

ps. I have the HSR, and i think it's the ****! Lots of torque and mid range, yet with flow numbers like 300+cfm it'll rev to the moon. I saw a test on one on a SBC that they pulled to like 8600rpm. It made huge hp.

Re: direct intake swap?
The only data I have is that I had a SR with the LPE 219 cam. The car ran consistent 12.0's @ 113. I made the switch to a MiniRam and went 11.85@115. Different tune but same motor, cam etc.

Many people have had good luck with the SR but my motor felt like a stone in second gear with it. I could not figure out why.

Personally, I love the MR! (My opinion)

By the way, you have one nice ride!

MR is alright...but it took alot of work to make it so and for the price is over rated....used, cheap or free it's a great piece.

Re: direct intake swap?
Hey Kandied, did you get new heads or something? Or did you get the first HSR that bolts to vortec style heads before it came out? LOL, can't wait till they start making a stealth ram for vortecs. But anywho, is your miniram really that disappointing? I have read people doing some amazing stuff with it. However, I decided LONG ago to go with stealth ram due to the price difference it has over the mini. You gonna change the cam or anything when you swap over?

Re: direct intake swap?
RPM Air Gap is nice right now but I'm doing a Super Victor Vortec... Maybe try that with your 8 well placed injectors and fuel rails and a nice hat up top. Get rid of the cold air setup and feed it from the Scoop/Cowl area of that hood as it was intended Ditching your current TB, bare intake, and cold air kit could probably fund most of the swap.

Post Highjack----> How much clearance was added with that hood?
