Well, no denying the VIN number, but I am just saying. Maybe in 85 they came with either? I have seen a ton of 85's with that grill.

You are right that is the 85 Z28 grill, Mines a 85 zed and it has that grill and is a true Z28 BUT, that RS is a 91 there 6 years between these cars, My friend RallySport, has a 92 RS with the same 15" wheels my Z28 has WHY?? because those where the RS wheels in 92 even though they were the Z28 wheels in 85, His also has the same grill as mine.

So ALOT can change in 6 years. The old Z28 stuff became the RS stuff in 90 I think?

But the E-bay car is a RS for sure, I knew just by looking at the grill.

I`m not sure if the vin dose????

But you can check the body tag by the rad and if it`s a Z28 it`ll say Z28, also if you look in the consel in the rpo codes it`ll say Z28. Mine says Z28 in both places there for it`s a Z28

What's rpo codes? My car no longer has this badge by the radiator. It was lost during it's repainting skit. I found a thing on the internet saying the 5th digit, which is a "P" on my vin means its a sport coupe z28. "S" would have been a Berlinetta. So what was the RS? Or did the RS not exist in 85?

P.S. Sorry to hijack your thread.

My thoughts on this matter. First one has to realize that there were many different options during those last two years (91-92)
But I do think that this person is pulling a fast one on you & or your friend.

Vin: 1G1FP33E9ML163029

P=Camaro (all models)
3=Vert
E=L03 305 (V8)
M=1991
L=Van Nuys Ca

So it is a 1991 * that is a RS grill for that year.

" You are bidding on a super clean super rare Camaro Z-28 Convertible with brand new convertible top, paint job, interior etc. Only 3,620 of these were made, it is already considered a collectors car. " Um I do not think so, but maybe wrong.

1991 FACTS
Color Exterior:

Code 10/Exterior Artic White/QTY 18,313 produced/ Models RS-Rsc-Z-Zc/Interiors Bk-Br-G-R

RPO N96 (16inch aluminum wheels) no cost w/ the Z28 models. In-cluded wheel locks & RPO QMT 235/55R16 black wall tires w/ Z28 Coupe, RPO QLC 245/50ZR16 black wall tires w/ Z28 Verts. Available @ $520 W/ the RS models (w/ RPO QMT tires ONLY)

Early, the base V6 for RS Coupe models was 191 ci, 140hp & the base V8 for RS verts was the L03 305 (305ci, 170hp) The base V8 for the Z28 model was 305ci, 205hp TPI.

Total QTY RS VERTS 5,329
Total QTY Z28 VERTS 3,203

We really need to get a copy of the RPO codes (Either located in the center concole or rear left storage capartment) to find out exactly what this car is v/s what they are trying to sell it as. I have sent the seller a message in reguards of wanting the RPO list for this car. If he really wants to sale it he should produce them for me.

Some of the earlier Z28 stuff like grills, wheels and so forth on cars like the '85 became standard on the RS in later years.

what was the first year for RS's?

Maybe the original fog light grill got screwed up so they put on that one? It probably is a fake though. Maybe get the vin and call up a gm shop and see if they can tell ya what in the hell it really is.

The "poor mans Kit" package. See the Knight Rider light bar under the non R/S grill?
