So I was looking at this IMMACULATE '85 Z-28 and I noticed that in the center console there looks to be a compass. Is this an aftermarket part? Or was it an option?

Its not a compass, its a console clock and it was an option on the early 80's cars. More common in 83 and 84 model years, it shows up on some 85 models every now and again.

I love it. My brothers '85 TPI had it. They only sold like 800 that year.
EDIT: to set it you have to reach into the center console.
