cold cranking
cold cranking
my 88 camaro 5l cranks over about 5 or 6 times before fireing in the mornings, the choke and everything is working great im just concerned about the amount of cranks it takes to fire.
Re: cold cranking
My '88 does the same thing when it's cool outside, with the first start up in the morning, don't know if there is anything wrong it's always been that way since new,but now I'm living in a warmer climate it starts right up even after setting for afew weeks.
Re: cold cranking
My TBI truck takes a few revs to crank too. Don't know really is there anything wrong. When you first turn the key on you should here the fuel pump kick on. If it doesn't then you may have to crank the engine until the oil pessure switch kicks the fuel pump on. Check your fuel pump relay and make sure your powering up the fuel pump from the get go and not relying on oil pressure switch. hope this helps
Re: cold cranking
I've never seen a TBI with a cold-start injector from ANY manufacturer, and I fix cars for a living. In fact, I've never seen a TBI with a choke either.
Try this: when you first turn the key to "run" wait for the pump to shut off. Then turn it off, turn it to "run" again, and start it. If it starts right up your fuel pump is getting weak, if it still takes a few turns then you're probably just looking at wear and tear causing her to take a little longer to get the compression up.
