Cluster issues....
My speedo doesn't respond until I've been driving for 18 minutes. At that point, it bounces its way up to whatever speed I'm traveling at, and works fine for the rest of the duration the car is on. I can stop and turn the car off for a while and it will work fine. What is the problem here? Its a 700R4 tranny.
Second issue. My temp. gauge is frozen at like 260 degrees (way past the upper limit). It doesn't move. It's always been like this (I've owned the car for two years). I'm getting sick of telling passengers "oh yea that doesn't work either..." so I was hoping you guys could help me out as to how to cure it.
Thanks

Sounds like you have a lazy VSS or a bad speedo. One way to confirm it is with a scanner. You hook it up and see what it does when you start up the car. If it sees 0 MPH, and the speedo reads 0 then your problme is in the VSS area. If the scanner reads a speed and your speedo says 0 then you have a bad speedo.
What do you mean it is frozen at 260? When you turn the car off and let it cool off and turn the key on in the morning but don't crank, does the gauge read 260 instantly? There is a sensor on teh driver side between cylinder 1 & 3 and has 1 wire coming from it. Disconnect it and see what happens. If you get 0 then you ahve a bad sensor. If you still get 260, either you have a brake in the wire between the gauge and the sender or you have a bad gauge.

Check the resistance of the sensor to the block. Touch one of DVOM wires to the part where the sensor wire connects to and touch the other to the block. Repeat when the engine is warm and see if there is a difference. Also, remove the wire to the sensor, if the gauge doesn't drop to the coldest reading then the gauge has issues.
