clearance of full length headers and header mufflers?
clearance of full length headers and header mufflers?
i dont know whatim gonna do for my exhaust yet, ive had tons of ideas, but i just thought of one that just might be what im looking for..
first off.. my car:
1984 Camaro z28 5pd LG4
i was thinking... would there be enough ground clearance if i ran full length headers and put on some of those glasspack mufflers that bolt right to the header flange, then maybe just turndowns or maybe a side exit?
i want the mufflers to be snug right up against the bottom of the car so i have ground clearance. emissions and noise is not a problem for me, i live in MN so they dont check for emissions and there are TONS of hillbillies drivin around in their huge trucks with straight pipes on and none of them get tickets, the cops are used to it, so i dont think my camaro with headers and glasspacks will be as loud as most of the trucks drivin around with no mufflers and 350's
however, money is an issue for me, i work at mcdonalds and it sucks, i figure this way ill only have to pay for headers, the header mufflers and a few feet of piping after the headers
edit: here are the mufflers im talking about, from Jegs:

Re: clearance of full length headers and header mufflers?
well thanks, but my whole idea is to have a simple, lightweight exhaust that isnt expensive. running duals all the way to the back will be fairly expensive, heavy, and alot of work.
the reason why i ask if there will be enough room is because if there is not enough room for the mufflers underneath there i would just go ahead and buy shorty headers and a y-pipe and use the stock exhaust. ive looked at alot of pictures of the underside of these cars and it looks like i will have enough room and im gonna go ahead and try it, if it doesnt work, hopefully it does and im pretty sure it will
