chip questions...
so ive been thinking about reprogramming the E-prom on my 92 z28 305. anyone have any suggestions? i was kind of leaning toward performance resource but i dont really know yet.
what kind of gains can i expect? what are the downsides? will it hurt my mileage a whole lot? will it take away from the life of my motor or anything like that?
also, my car is pretty much bone stock right now but lets say i finally break down and buy the headers and exhaust and possibly a different intake, will the chip have to be re-burnt to adress the new modifications?

Don't get a JET or Hypertech chip, they will give you less than a tenth of a second off your 1/4 et.
At PCM, they will burn a custom chip to your current setup. There are tons of testimonials on that site that are nothing but good, and dyno results to boot.
Second, you will see little to no gain with a chip on a stock application. I say, just save up for headers and a catback. You will see the most gain out of that, at around 20-30hp, and it will also sound nice and save some weight (those stock manifolds are pretty heavy compared to headers)
Bottomline, and others will tell you too, save the custom chip burn until after you do something big like heads and cam, or intake, etc. That is where you really need to start adjusting your fuel table.

Re: chip questions...
umm you can get huge gains on a stock motor,
I have basicly just exhaust and K&N,
I run a 160* stat, 94 octane fuel, and after about 12 hours of logging and tunning my car is way faster,
I can put huge power increase on a MAF 350 just by putting a corvette bin in it,
you can change your throttle % for where you go into PE and your A/F ratio is yours to play with,
run about 12.5-13:1 vs the stock 14.7:1 and you'll see some big power gains
with more fuel and a lower running temp you can add alot more timing,
my bottom end torque is went up significantly
if you got auto you can play with your torque converter lock and unlock makes you way faster out the hole
